Hi, I’m KAte. A licensed psychologist, a highly sensitive person, empath and a mom.

I have been in the helping profession for 20 years, eek! I started as a social worker for DCFS but quickly burnt myself out and pivoted towards studying psychology, obtaining my doctorate in clinical psychology in 2011. My focus in graduate school and beyond has been on Family Systems, really understanding how our families shape who we are and who we want to become.

I also fell in love with college counseling and it is here where I really honed my skills on working with all forms of anxiety and depression, which continues to be an area of speciality in my work. And while I moved on from the college setting, I still have a deep passion for helping young adults navigate what is often a messy but beautiful phase of life.

And then things shifted again. Once I became a mother I realized that I am highly sensitive (a temperament held by up to 20% of the population) and it deeply affects how I show up in the world. While it can feel heavy, I am passionate about helping it feel less so for my fellow highly sensitive people (HSPs).

Also, mothers, from newly postpartum to having young children, need extra support and space to feel seen, heard and not judged, especially in a world where their needs are too often neglected.

So as you can see, my own path of self discovery has not been linear. How about you?

Does any of this resonate with you and your path?

Do you ever feel different? Or maybe you feel disconnected from yourself or purpose?

Or perhaps you feel stuck or in an unhealthy pattern that is holding you back in life?

If so, I am honored to help you on your journey! Read on to find out more about how I practice and how I can help you be the best version of yourself!

My Approach

My approach is deep with a dose of humor and warm and compassionate while also honest and straight forward. In my own experience a common thread for highly sensitive people, empaths, young adults and Moms is a tendency to feel like you are doing life “wrong”. It is my mission to help you understand that you are not doing life wrong that you are not “broken” and do not need “fixing”. I am here to tell you that we need to begin to help you connect with yourself and utilize your own strengths and uniqueness. We need to help you understand yourself so that you can accept yourself. Then change is possible. As a team, I firmly believe in empowering you with self awareness and tools so that you can better manage your stressors out in the real world. You are truly the key to change and I am here to help you unlock it.
